This stall has 2️⃣ phases each day. Morning 🌅, you will have the left hand side selling Carrot Cake and in the evening 🌇, you will have the right-hand side selling Satay 🍢 and BBQ Chicken 🐓 Wings. This review is for the Carrot Cake 🧆. This is the interesting 😅 part…… At this Lor 8️⃣ Market and Hawker Center, there are about 4️⃣ stalls selling carrot cakes 🧆. Of the 4️⃣ stalls, only 2️⃣ are dedicated to selling ONLY carrot cakes. And both of these stalls sell only BLACK ⬛️ Carrot Cakes 🧆. You can clearly see at the stall of this Good Luck BBQ, it has signs 🪧 reading “NO FRIED WHITE”, “CASH PAYMENT” & “$3/$4/$5” (I’m here to tell you who is better in my own words. 😁) Staff : Elderly lady 🧓🏼 who takes orders (and will not tolerate your nonsense 😉), no beepers 📟, just hang around and she will summon 🗣️you when ready. The elderly gentleman 👴🏻 is the one frying the carrot cake. Focus and no communication whatsoever. System is order 🧾, pay 💸, wait ⏳. The waiting time is ALWAYS 25mins to 35mins ⌚️……most people will pay and walk 🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶off to buy their coffee ☕️or other food 🥘🍜. Food : So how good is it? Frankly, it's between good and great but certainly not 🙅♂️ a “OMG it’s Freaking Awesome category 🤯”. The Fried Carrot Cake has Wok Hey I give you that, filled with Chai Po (Preserved Radish), eggy 🥚goodness on a plate 🍽️. However, it is a bit too dry. It should be a little wet, not oily…. But wet from the black ⚫️ sauce but not completely dry. (See my pictures 📸) *Please order at least the $4 or $5 because you will eat nothing if you order the $3, the potion is too small. I have stayed in Toa Payoh 40+years. If I approach this stall and the queue is 30-40mins ⏳, I will not order but instead order from another stall that is faster and wetter in cooking. However, if the wait it is between 20-30mins, I will consider it. 🙄

Impressed with the carrot cake . Wasn’t expecting much as it was originally meant as a side dish but it was a nice take on the black version and it has that nice preserved radish flavour. Great dish to go with Simon road Hokkien prawn noodles 👍🏼

Only 80 cents per satay and the portion per stick is generous compared to other stalls. Satay is grilled to perfection and has a balanced ratio between the lean and fat (in this photo I ordered pork satay). Skip the ketupat as it is dry in …

Happened to head to the hawker centre at Toa Payoh Lorong 8 for dinner. Tried this satay stall. 😊 Must say one of the best satays in Singapore 🇸🇬. ☺️ The chicken 🐔 satay is fresh, succulent, well marinated and tender. 👍 The pork satay is equally yummy. 😋 The peanut 🥜 gravy is really nice and not too oily. 👍 not forgetting a good portion of cucumbers 🥒 and onions 🧅. Highly recommend all satay lovers to check this stall out when around the area. 👍🙏
